January 29, 2018A 24-month-old gray Brahman bull set an 11-year-old price record for all breeds at the NCC (Nobbs Cattle Company) bull sale.
Roger and Lorena Jeffries paid a large sum to secure the bull.
The previous all-breed record was set in 2006 by another Brahman bull, the $300,000 Lancefield bull.
The NCC sale also easily set a new average price record for all breeds in Australia with 76 bulls averaging $26,915 and 28 heifers recorded averaging $15,159. Combined with two bags of seeds with an average value of $5,500, this sale generated an impressive $2.48 million in profits. After the first 41 lots, the average bull price was approximately $32,000.
The Jeffreys were contacted shortly after the sale, in the interest of the bull’s semen, and although plans for seed collection are already underway, there are no plans to release the Jeffreys’ genes to other breeders, at least in the short term.
The second most expensive bull at the $120,000 NCC sale was Own and Lee Scott, Luann, Clermont, who also bought the highest-priced bull at the recent Rockhampton Brahman Week sale.
Today’s NCC registrations continue a strong year of new sales registrations for stallions and mares.
