October 8, 2018As part of the 15th annual Auction organized by Cabaña Caá Cupé in Corrientes, a bull of the Brahman breed captured attention by reaching an unprecedented price. The Paraguayan establishment Viradolce, represented by Maris Llorens, acquired this specimen for the astonishing figure of 400,000 dollars, marking a record for this prestigious bovine breed.
The bull, a descendant of Grand Champion Abdul of Brazilian blood and Grand Champion Wellington of American bloodline, exhibits a notable genetic background. With an imposing structure and outstanding breed quality, the RP 161, as it is known, boasts a beef eye area of 102.5 millimeters and a scrotal circumference of 42 centimeters, aspects that highlight its potential as a breeder.
Sales at this auction, led by consignee Iván O’Farrell, saw the bidding for this copy begin at 150,000 pesos, quickly escalating to reach the impressive final figure of 400,000 pesos in an intense dispute.
This Brahman price milestone reflects the growing purchasing power of foreign buyers, with Paraguay emerging as a prominent force at livestock shows in Argentina. Maris Llorens, in particular, has been highlighted for his investments, having previously made notable purchases at events such as the Palermo fair, where he shelled out 950,000 pesos for the Male Grand Champion Brangus and 800,000 pesos for the Reserved Female Grand Champion Braford. These acquisitions emphasize the influence of the neighboring country by attracting and exhibiting the best of national bovine genetics.
