September 9, 2019At the emblematic Expoagro in La Rural de Corrientes, the 18th National Brahman Exhibition was held, highlighting the qualities of this breed to thrive in the challenging fields of northern Argentina. More than 90 breeders from cabins from the north of the country gathered, evidencing the solid demand that the breed has from breeders, who seek to reinforce the adaptability of their herds.
The National Brahman Show is considered the highlight in the breed’s calendar, showcasing genetic excellence and breeder selection. Within the framework of the Expoagro Livestock, the event highlighted the suitability of these animals in challenging environments. With Alfredo Muskus as judge, from Texas, the selection of animals highlighted the importance of fertile and resistant females, seeking optimal adaptation to extensive terrain.
The Grand Champion, a 27-month-old heifer with calf at foot, from the Río Seco ranch, Compañía Anglo Córdoba de Tierra, embodied the most appreciated qualities. In the men’s competition, RP 238 from Palenque 36, Santa Rosa cabin, won Grand Champion. The Brahman Breeders Association of Argentina (Acba) emphasized the role of this breed in improving productive rates in the North and its importance in maintaining hardiness.
In addition, breeders from Paraguay participated, recognizing the work of Argentine breeders and highlighting the potential of pure Brahman as a key factor in livestock production. The event demonstrated the growing interest in Brahmans at auctions, both for bulls and calves, reflecting the outstanding demand for this “mother of breeds” at auctions and its impact on regional livestock.
