October 23, 2020In the Atoyac de Álvarez mountain range, Guerrero, a biotechnological embryo transfer project has borne fruit with the birth of two male calves of the Swiss Brown Brahman breed. This program, led by the Ministry of Agriculture and the local City Council, seeks to benefit small livestock farmers.
The president of the College of Zootechnical Veterinary Doctors of Guerrero, Obdulio Molina Marcial, celebrated the first results in the mountain region of Atoyac. This program is expected to generate at least ten more births by the first quarter of 2021.
Local producers, such as Ángel Luz Lezma León and Héctor León Chávez, praised the state and municipal support to access these biogenetic techniques. The program, which includes the birth of 10 Swiss Brown Brahmans by February 2021, aims to improve the quality of livestock breeding in the area.
So far, this project in Guerrero has allowed the birth of 200 specimens, contributing to the quality of meat and dairy production, as well as the genetic improvement of livestock in the state.
