November 21, 2020A major cattle producer, Kevin Pickersgill, owner of Bunderra Cattle Company, has offered a reward of up to $250,000 for any information that could lead to the return of more than 1400 head of Brahman and Brahman cross cattle, allegedly stolen from his station in the Territory of the North earlier this year. This large quantity of cattle, with an estimated value of more than $2 million, was reported missing after an inspection in July at Murranji Station, located southwest of Daly Waters.
Pickersgill, who owns eight cattle properties in Queensland, expressed his bewilderment at the incident, noting that the missing cattle included breeding females with calves. In addition to the direct losses, he estimates that he has suffered the loss of at least 800 more animals due to the situation.
Given the stalemate in the police investigation, the producer decided to announce this reward for any details that led to the recovery of the animals or identify those responsible for the theft. Although there have been some leads, Pickersgill hopes the reward will encourage more people to come forward with key information that could help solve this case.
Murranji Station, a sprawling 447,500-hectare breeding property, was acquired by Bunderra Cattle Company, owned by the Pickersgill family, for $23 million in March this year, including 12,500 Brahman and crossbred cattle.
