April 25, 2022Initiatives advance to strengthen bovine production in western Argentina
June 7, 2022This week, cattle supply on AuctionsPlus dropped to 17,000 head, a seven percent decline, primarily due to logistical challenges caused by wet conditions in some areas. Despite the decline in supply, Queensland and northern New South Wales showed strong demand, especially for weaners and yearling cattle, reflected in higher prices for most categories of steers, recovering some of the losses from the previous week.
Cold and wet weather conditions affected demand for breeding lines, although high humidity is expected to favor herd rebuilding activity. Prices varied across young heifer lines, with a stronger demand for lighter compared to heavier heifers. There was an increase in prices for light steers below 200kg and higher prices overall were recorded for heavier steers, recouping losses from the previous week.
Overall, auctions were successful, with high auction rates and robust demand for several categories of livestock, reflecting an active market and a continuation of the 2022 trend at AuctionsPlus.
