September 9, 2022To improve cattle genetics in Guyana, approximately 60 Brahman bulls from the United States are expected to arrive next month. The Minister of Agriculture, Zulfikar Mustapha, announced that this investment is part of the breed improvement program for the reconstruction of the livestock sector. With an estimated cost of around $70 million, these bulls are expected to arrive at the end of September, contributing to the improvement of breeds and working in collaboration with farmers to strengthen the livestock sector. The importation of these Brahman bulls responds to the demand of farmers and adds to the country’s efforts to revitalize its genetic stock after last year’s floods, declared a national disaster.
