Great Sales Success in the Special Auction of La Rural
November 11, 2022Australian Brahman Bull Sales Exceed Expectations in 2022
December 19, 2022At the recent Prima Genetika Brahman auction in Castle de Wildt, South Africa, a new record was set with the sale of a pregnant Brahman cow for R1.2 million. The auction, led by André Kock & Seun, marked the highest amount ever paid for a female Brahman in South Africa, as well as the highest for a female beef breeding animal in the country.
The cow, identified as SER 19 32, was purchased by Marius de Beer, owner of the Keerom Brahman Stud in Dwaalboom, who viewed the purchase as an investment in the future of his stud.
De Beer highlighted that high-quality genetics, such as SER 19 32, are rare at auction, and this investment comes on top of his previous acquisition of Brahman bull ‘Sleeping Giant’ WIL 15 63 for a record R1 million. He plans to use embryo-washing techniques to obtain as many offspring as possible, thus maximizing the return on investment in this outstanding pregnant Brahman female.
